The Taipei Metro One-Day Pass allows travelers in Taipei to use the extensive network of the Taipei Metro an unlimited number of times for one calendar day. It’s a great way to see lots of the city without having to worry about charging your IC card, and is also perfect for people that are transiting at Songshan Airport and have a day to explore the city.
What does it cost?
How do I use it?
Just tap your pass card onto a ticket gate reader to enter, and you’ll activate the pass for that day. Note that the pass does not include the Taoyuan Metro that takes visitors from Taoyuan Airport into the city.
Is it worth it?
You’ll need to do at least five or six trips on a Taipei Metro One-Day Pass to make it worth it if you’re just traveling around the city center. You’ll start to save more easily if you use it to go to places further from the center, such as Beitou or Tamsui. For example, the fare to Tamsui is NT$50 from Taipei Station, so if you did a trip there then did a few more short trips it would quickly pay for itself.
Note that the 24h pass is only slightly more expensive, at NT$180, and would make more sense if you are not starting early in the morning, as you’ll be able to use it a bit on your second day. If you also need to use the city buses, the Taipei Fun pass is a better deal. Those that are doing a quick return trip from Taoyuan Airport should get the joint pass instead.
Where can I buy it?
You can buy the pass at any information center in a Taipei Metro station.
