The Kaohsiung Metro 1-Day Pass allows travelers in Kaohsiung to use the city’s MRT, or metro, network an unlimited number of times for one calendar day. It can be a convenient way for travelers to explore the city if they want to pack lots of attractions and activities into one day. While the Kaohsiung Metro network is not as extensive as in Taipei, it is super easy to use and goes near to many tourist spots in this large city.
What does it cost?
How do I use it?
The Kaohsiung Metro 1-Day Pass is very easy to use. Just scan your card on an entry gate to the first station that you’ll be using your card, and then it is activated for the day. After this just scan your card to enter and exit any station.
Is it worth it?
If you use an IC card such as an iPass or Easycard, each ticket costs between NT$17 and NT$30. You’ll therefore probably need to do several journeys on the pass to make it a worthwhile purchase. If you are spending more than a day, it might be more economical to buy the 24 hour or 48 hour pass. If, for example, you are doing an afternoon and morning the following day in Kaohsiung, the 24 hour pass might be better.
Where can I buy it?
You can purchase the pass at any station service desk, and the pass can be added to an iPass card or just be purchased by itself. Note that you can only use cash to purchase these cards. 2-day passes are also available for NT$250.
